  Getting upset with children who cannot sit through the meetings.

  ok this thought came to me the other day.

  i was thinking of the co who told me that he liked to see parents spank their children for not sitting still during the meetings.. i remember how hard it was to sit through two hours when i was four or five years old.

  it was like forever.. i was thinking of comparing the hours that we have been alive to how long two hours is for a child.

  i have had it with my mother.

  i've spoken on the board before about her.

  she is fanatically religious, often keeps me on the phone for hours while she talks endlessly about the bible.

  How would you handle it if your child decided they wanted to be a JW and you saw them going that way?

  Make it clear your love for them is bigger than any religion and is unconditional.

  Tell them what you know, secret elders manual, the 607/587 controversy and the shunning policy. Flip flopping doctrines etc and failed prophecies. I have a JW scrapbook so would give them a copy.

  Try to find out what is so lacking in their life they would even contemplate joining this evil cult and address that. I don't believe truely happy or contented people convert.

  If they insist on still going down that route, let them know you will be there to pick up the pieces when it all goes horribly wrong and they discover it is a cult.

  March 2011 Our Kingdom Ministry?

  sorry to trouble you all, but does anyone have a scanable copy of the march 2011 kingdom ministry (british), or know where i could possibly download a copy?

  have managed in previous months to find them online, but this one is proving elusive!.

  not attended the meetings in ages been to ill, and it now appears the congregation's forgotten about me!

  the circuit did door the door ministry on my street yesterday, not one thought to knock on the door and see how I am!

  Sounds like the start of a successful fade to me, if that is what you want.

  2011 Memorial attendance/partaking

  has anyone got plans to go to the 2011 memorial (mock the christ ritual), and take the emblems (cardboard and vinegar), to inflate the 'partakers' stats?.

  This will be the 1st memorial I have made a conscious decision not to attend.

  If someone had invited me, or even told me the date and time of last year's memorial I would have gone. Although I had been inactive for a whole year I still believed.

  This year I do know and I have no guilt or fear and I'm definitely not going!

  JW Culture Survey: Two-piece swimsuits? OK for JWs?

  up front, i'm not talking about jw baptisms.

  we all know the approved female attire is a "modest" swimsuit and even that's not modest enough, so they slap a big t-shirt over the "modest" swimsuit.. .

  i'm talking about anywhere else jws and water would mix: the beach, the pool, the river, etc.

  Another" Windowless Kingdom Hall" thread..

  well, i have talked to a few people and no one knows of any kingdom halls that have no or little windows.

  does anyone here have an address or picture of one they have seen?.

  i tried doing a search but it looks like the only one commenting on them are ex jw's... any info anyone?.

  The Kingdom Hall in Hampshire was a quickbuild and we built it with no windows.

  We whited out the windows of the Pizza Parlour we converted in Spain.

  Toxic relationships don't have an easy answer. If you stopped speaking to her how much would you miss her or would it be a relief? Perhaps distancing yourself for a while might help. As a child I used to dream that I was accidently swapped at birth and my real and loving mother would find me and rescue me from the total bitch masquerading as my mother.

  I eventually made a conscious decision to cut her out of my life and my children's lives after confronting her about her treatment of me whilst I was growing up.

  That was 15 years ago. It still hurts so much but I think it was the right decision. I still yearn for a proper Mum that loves me and I am 51 now.

  My advise would be, don't make an irreversable or hasty decision that you may regret but know that possibly she may always cause you pain whether she is in or out or your life, its just which will be the easier for you to live with. Hugs and kisses to you.

  if lately it doesn't seem like your seeing as many post on your latest news/news feed, there is a reason.. i noticed this on my end and so has others and recently facebook implemented some new changes so that it only shows.

  the posts from people you regularly communicate with.

  (how and who determines whats regular to you is beyond me).
